For all those people who think of Mexico in terms of that old cliche image of a guy with a big hat, a poncho and a donkey, you ought to visit many of Mexico’s modern cities, including the very cosmopolitan Mexico City, and realize this beautiful country is so much more than the old cliche. Now, that said, if you visit some of the smaller more traditional towns, you might occasionally find bits and pieces of that old cliche here and there. Case in point, the donkey. Though I didn’t run into any guys wearing big hats, canvas clothing and ponchos, I did run into a very lovely picture perfect donkey, and of course couldn’t miss the opportunity for a snapshot. Isn’t he the cutest donkey you’ve ever seen?

Anyway, donkey aside, Look of the Day is back!! This look was shot months ago in Mexico, and it is one I really love. I am a sucker for ladylike looks, so pretty much any outfit including this midi-length, fuller skirt dress is gonna be a favorite for me. Plus the black and white color palette give the whole thing a classic yet modern feel. Just the kind of outfit that can come to the rescue on those “don’t know what to wear” kind of days. It truly requires minimum effort.

Wishing you guys a great week!!

Shopping: Splurge vs Save

I know I’m behind again on my posts, and there are more posts coming about my trip to Mexico, but today I just had to share this amazing deal with you, my lovely ladies.

It’s no secret that if you’re a woman, chances are you fantasize about owning your very own pair of Christian Louboutin or Jimmy Choo shoes…and also, chances are you can’t afford them. And yes, I am one of those that would love to own a pair (or more!) of each myself. Pretty much any pair would do really, but lately I had been particularly smitten with the Christian Louboutin Decollete in Patent Nude pair ($685)…

They are so similar to the designers versions, and such a perfect go-with-everything pair of shoes. And you can’t beat that price, which is a sale price by the way, not the original price, so even better! Now run and get your own while they still have them, because they’re practically a must-have that I’m sure won’t last in-stock for very long. In fact, they didn’t have them in my size at the store, so I ordered them and now have to impatiently wait to have them on my feet (which won’t be until next week, grrr).  Of course, there will be countless Looks of the Day to come starring these beauties.

Look of the Day: Roots

I’m excited because today I fiiiinally get to start sharing my photos of Mexico with you! I say start because I took a gazillion photos so it’ll take many posts to be able to share all of my favorites.

If you follow me on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook, you may have an idea of the places I visited, which were a few. To sum it up, I traveled to Mexico City for almost 4 weeks, stationed myself there and then traveled during weekends to towns and cities around on a 5 hour radius.

I had such a fantastic time, exploring some of the culturally richest places in Mexico, reconnecting with my roots and with important people in my life. One of those people is my childhood friend Artemisa, who was so kind to snap these Look of the Day photos for me. I spent 5 days at her parents’ house in Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, and they were the warmest hosts you could ever imagine. Of course I’ll also share some photos of this lovely little town, but that will be next time as this post is just about this Look of the Day.

And speaking of, how cool is this faux leather jacket I’m wearing? It was a gift from my cousin Luzma (who you might remember I visited a couple of months ago in Seattle), and I love it!! The weather in Mexico was cooler and occasionally rainy so I wore it non-stop, and I plan to continue to do so as soon as the weather permits here in Arizona. I had been wanting a biker leather jacket for ages, and if you don’t have one yet, you better get on it because it is such a must-have.

Well, my dears, I’m off for today but I hope you are having a great week.
