For all those people who think of Mexico in terms of that old cliche image of a guy with a big hat, a poncho and a donkey, you ought to visit many of Mexico’s modern cities, including the very cosmopolitan Mexico City, and realize this beautiful country is so much more than the old cliche. Now, that said, if you visit some of the smaller more traditional towns, you might occasionally find bits and pieces of that old cliche here and there. Case in point, the donkey. Though I didn’t run into any guys wearing big hats, canvas clothing and ponchos, I did run into a very lovely picture perfect donkey, and of course couldn’t miss the opportunity for a snapshot. Isn’t he the cutest donkey you’ve ever seen?

Anyway, donkey aside, Look of the Day is back!! This look was shot months ago in Mexico, and it is one I really love. I am a sucker for ladylike looks, so pretty much any outfit including this midi-length, fuller skirt dress is gonna be a favorite for me. Plus the black and white color palette give the whole thing a classic yet modern feel. Just the kind of outfit that can come to the rescue on those “don’t know what to wear” kind of days. It truly requires minimum effort.

Wishing you guys a great week!!

Look of the Day: The Last Goodbye

Today I bring you a look of the day shot on my last day in Vancouver. Right before heading to downtown Vancouver for a farewell dinner with friends, my dear Norma and I stopped by the Waterfront Park to try to get some photos with the Vancouver skyline as a backdrop.

The whole evening was the perfect way to say goodbye to this beautiful city, my wonderful friends, and this lovely time in my life. The sun was setting, the weather was gorgeous, location was perfect. Right after the photo-shoot, I rode the seabus into downtown for the last time, enjoyed a delicious dinner with my summer Charming Gardeners, and wrapped the night at my favorite jazz bar.

Even though I left Vancouver 4 weeks ago, with this last post and photos from my time there, it kind of feels like the last goodbye. I know I’ll go back there sometime, but for now…goodbye to Vancouver and to a time in my life that will never come back.

Look of the Day: It’s a Cinch

You can always count on me to make sure my outfits are cinched at the waist. When you are a curvy hourglass figure, there’s really no other way to go if you want to avoid looking like you’re wearing a tent. No need to take my word for it though, luckily there are some famous and celebrated hourglass figures out there to look up to when it comes to flattering style. America Ferrera, Sofia Vergara, Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lopez, just to name a few (and all Latinas!), are some perfect examples of the wonders this little trick can do for this type of figure.
Nevertheless, here I leave you with some more down to Earth photographic testimony of my own to what a cinch this is (yes, pun intended).
